Applications can now migrated to the cloud from internal data centres as well as from one cloud platform to another, such as Amazon to GoGrid.
However, several industry organisations believe that cloud providers will need to deploy standards-based solutions in the future to ensure true interoperability.
The recently issued “Open Cloud Manifesto” promotes data and application interoperability.
Furthermore, the Open Cloud Consortium promotes open frameworks.
This will allow clouds managed by various organisations to coexist in peace.
The goal is to move apps between clouds without having to rewrite them.
